Recently, in a routine inspection at Houqiao Port, officers of Tengchong Customs House (affiliated to Kunming Customs District) seized 0.9 ton of poppy capsules on suspicion of smuggling inside an inbound van without license plate. Then, narcotic morphine ingredients were detected in those poppy capsules.

In recent years, facing attempted inward smuggling of poppy capsules, Kunming Customs has been strengthening port patrolling, border checking and anti-drug publicity campaign in order to block the drug inflow and seize the smuggled at the border.

According to the report, from January to October 2015, the Customs District totally cracked 8 smuggling cases, and seized 4.66 tons of poppy capsules as well as 210 kilograms of activated poppy seeds.
