Ningbo Customs Seizes 58 Intact Bullets in Imported Brass
04/29/2020

On March 11, Beilun Customs House in Ningbo Customs District seized 58 intact bullets in a batch of brass scrap imported from Canada.

Customs officers found the brass scrap, totaling 23.12 tons, mingled with many bullet shells and, through further check, they seized 58 intact bullets whose ignition caps were untriggered. So far, this batch of goods has been under further treatment.

In accordance with the standard for environmental protection on imported solid waste usable as raw materials, bullets are explosive ammunition and thus prohibited from mixture with the waste due to high security risk.

In line with “Blue Sky 2020” campaign requirements, Ningbo Customs keeps intensive control and inspection at ports against illegal inbound waste to ensure border security and help businesses resume operation. Since the campaign beginning, the Customs has seized 4 batches of bullets in inbound solid waste, involving 167.86 tons of goods.
