On April 12, Ms Li, a Chinese American, declared for exit tax-refund verification to Kunming Airport Customs House (affiliated to Kunming Customs District). After verifying the camera worth RMB2499 bought by her and related bills to be all correct, the customs officers fast finished the verification formality. Afterwards, Ms Li smoothly got tax refund at a tax-refund point and became the first passenger getting exit tax refund in Yunnan Province.

From April 1, China began to provide tax refund for the purchase of overseas passengers on their exit in Jiangsu Province, Shaanxi Province, Yunnan Province, Qingdao City and Shenzhen City. Therein Yunnan has piloted such exit tax refund at Kunming Changshui Airport and Lijiang Sanyi Airport.
