Recently, under the control of Zhanjiang Customs, a total of 6,268 counterfeit electric cookers were destroyed by qualified firms in an environment-friendly way. Those counterfeits, seized by Zhanjiang Customs in recent years implementing intellectual property right (IPR) enforcement to safeguard the “made in China” reputation, had infringed on many Chinese and foreign brands and were below China’s compulsory safety standards, with big harm to the brands and big risk in their use, so the Customs conducted the massive destruction.
Zhanjiang Customs has always been dedicated to IPR protection by taking numerous relevant campaigns. According to the statistics, since 2014, this Customs has seized 14 IPR-infringing cases involving 94,000 pieces of counterfeits, worth 1.64 million yuan; therein 15,000 pieces of consumer goods in good quality, worth 590,000 yuan, have been donated to Guangdong Red Cross Society.
