“Manifests Consolidation” Quickens Railway Clearance in Suifenhe
10/09/2015

On September 6, Suifenhe Customs House (affiliated to Harbin Customs District) launched Manifests Consolidation reform at the railway port by dealing with the manifests of 3774.5 tons of ores in 5 batches carried by 55 trains, which were consolidated into 5 consignments for declaration, with the consolidated manifests accounting for 27.64% of total manifest quantity of that day. Through the consolidation, import and export declarations will be reduced 30% in quantity.

Reportedly, one car produces one manifest, while one manifest corresponds to one form of declaration; with one train mounted with 38-40 cars, 38-40 consignments need to be declared then. Based on the consolidation regarding the import goods of the same name, specification, contract, company and the same train, like chemical fertilizers, ores or coal, their manifests for scores of cars can be consolidated into one manifest, thus only one declaration form to be made.

Ms. Xu, General Manager of an international freight forwarder in Suifenhe, said: We are forwarding large quantities of imported goods, often in more than 100 trains every day, by the same names, contracts and trains. Now with manifests consolidated into one declaration, we can save much time, much trouble, much manpower, and much money.
