Over RMB200 Million Smuggling Case Cracked by Nanning Customs

On the morning of April 14, with the coordination of Guangxi local public security bureau, Nanning Customs implemented a campaign coded GN1606in Nanning, Jingxi and Napo cities/counties and cracked down a criminal gang that smuggled imported frozen food and rice bypassing the Customs on China-Vietnam border. In that case, 12 criminal suspects were captured, 32-ton frozen food and 10-ton rice were seized, as well as some documentary and physical evidences were detained.

 

Customs investigation showed that since November 2015 this gang had smuggled inward frozen food over 10,000 tons and rice over 1,000 tons, totally worth RMB200 million. The gang which was lead by a person surnamed He smuggled non-quarantined frozen food like beef and chicken feet from the USA and India as well as rice from Vietnam through non-Customs areas in Jingxi and Napo on China-Vietnam border, and then transported them to cities such as Nanning and finally to other provinces for sale.

 

Now, Nanning Customs has set up a special team to investigate the case, with 4 suspects temporarily controlled by local police offices for drug using.
