On March 30, Mr. Li Guo, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China met with Mr. John Scanlon, Secretary General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in Beijing.
After extending his welcome to Secretary General Scanlon, Vice Minister Li introduced the works done by China Customs in combating the smuggling of endangered species and made proposals for stronger communication and cooperation.
Secretary General Scanlon highly appreciated the relentless efforts and remarkable progress made by China Customs in protecting the environment and fighting against the smuggling of endangered species as well as products thereof, and said that he looked forward to further enhancing cooperation between CITES Secretariat and China Customs.
