On February 21, Tengchong Customs House (affiliated to Kunming Customs District) cracked a poppy capsule smuggling case, in which 1.04 tons of poppy capsules suspected of smuggling were seized.

Early in that morning, Tengchong Customs officers，acting on the reports by the public, intercepted an unlicensed small van covered with tarpaulin on the border crossing of Houqiao Town, Tengchong City. The car was loaded with 56 bags of poppy capsules, with a total net weight of 1.04 tons.

Poppy capsule, also called pericarpium papaveris, is a hard drug. It is the remaining dried poppy hull after the latex leaks out.
