GENERAL ADMINISTRATION OF CUSTOMS
OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
Officers of Customs Office in the Post Office Stationed by Jinling Customs House (affiliated to Nanjing Customs District) said they had found anomalies on the X-ray image of two mails when scanning the inward express parcels on August 18. Customs officers said the two mails were sent from France and were declared as “billiard balls made of artificial stones”. In manual inspection, Customs officers found 11 billiard balls (with a weight of 2,000 grams) that were suspected of being made of ivory. These billiard balls, which were white in color and had the ivory netlike lines, were defined preliminarily as ivory products. Customs officers detained the balls according to law.
