1.752 kilograms of caterpillar fungus products seized at the special port of Zhuhai-Macao Cross-Border Industrial Zone
Recently, Zhuhai Bonded Area Office of Gongbei Customs intercepted a batch of Chinese caterpillar fungus (Cordyceps sinensis) products, weighing 1.752 kilograms and valued over 100,000 Yuan, in the luggage of an inward passenger from Macao; this case marked the first seizure of such product with the highest value so far at the special port of Zhuhai-Macao Cross-Border Industrial Zone.
Chinese caterpillar fungus is a kind of animal-derived Chinese medicinal materials. According to relevant regulations of China, animal-derived medicines are banned from being carried or mailed inward. The passenger did not undertake relevant quarantine procedures and his carry of caterpillar fungus products violated Customs regulations, so this case has been handed over to the anti-smuggling bureau for investigation.
