China Customs Clears Imported Anti-Epidemic Supplies Without Delay

On the evening of January 24, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued a notice requiring Wuhan Customs and other local Customs to fast clear imported anti-epidemic supplies and donations without delay by opening special counters and green lanes. 


On the early morning of January 26, the GACC announced that, overseas anti-epidemic donations, if accompanied with certificates issued by competent medical administrations, may be released upon registration before appropriate formalities are completed.

On January 27, the GACC issued another notice further specifying the measures for fast clearance of anti-epidemic supplies. Regarding the medicines and medical devices imported through all means of transport, including those carried in by passengers or by post or express, local Customs must clear them without delay, so that such supplies can be picked up upon arrival and put into frontline use in the shortest possible time. Customs nationwide are required to set up service hotlines, which should be made available on major media, and designate personnel to provide clearance consultation around the clock. All Customs should keep record of the importation of anti-epidemic supplies and compile relevant statistics, to support the decision-making for securing the supplies. Local Customs are also required to ensure timely clearance of the supplies for Hong Kong and Macao SARs.  

According to customs statistics, on January 30, the imported anti-epidemic supplies totaled 7,880 batches or 21,968,000 pieces, valued at 190 million yuan. Among them, protective supplies accounted for 39% of the total batches, totaling 21,745,000 pieces, valued at 74,132,000 yuan, including 20,825,000 face masks, 32,000 pairs of safety goggles and 259,000 protective clothes; sterilization products totaled 3,000 pieces, valued at 21,000 yuan; medical devices totaled 49,000 pieces, valued at 9,765,000 yuan.

From January 24 to 30, the imported anti-epidemic supplies totaled 16,139 batches or 59,178,000 pieces, valued at 290 million yuan. Among them, protective articles accounted for 55.2% of the total batches, totaling 58,853,000 pieces, valued at 160 million yuan, including 56,228,000 face masks, 69,000 pairs of safety goggles and 738,000 protective clothes; medicines totaled 107,000 boxes, valued at 13,436,000 yuan; sterilization products totaled 36,000 pieces, valued at 656,000 yuan; medical devices totaled 95,000 pieces, valued at 21,281,000 yuan.
