Recently, in a special operation deployed by GAC, Huangpu Customs District seized an inward smuggling of 14,000 tons of rice meal worth CNY43.04 Million.
Huangpu Customs suspected a Chongqingfirm of inward smuggling by false declaration of commodity name. Through analysis of related materials and identification of declared “rice bran” to import, the Customs confirmed that the firm has tried to smuggle rice meal inward by false declaration as “rice bran”, and then captured the major smuggler surnamed Zheng.
According to Zheng, despite different regulations for rice meal (HS Code 1103192990) and rice bran (HS Code 23024000) by China’s Import & Export Tariff, the firm, with a view to tax exemption for rice bran, by confusing the concepts of the two products, intentionally concealed key commodity ingredients and used false analysis information to get tax exemption certificate from the Customs so as to evade relevant tax. Currently, Zheng has been formally arrested by People’s Procuratorate of Guangzhou City and this case is under further investigation.
Huangpu Customs seized a case of rice meal smuggling.
