On June 10, one ton of edible chondroitin sulfate (CS) made by Jiangsu Aoxin Biotechnology Company Ltd. cleared customs on the EU market. Allegedly, chondroitin sulfate is extracted from animal cartilage and used as a kind of medicine, healthcare product or food additive. 

To ensure the EU clearance, Lianyungang Customs (subordinate to Nanjing Customs District) kept effective communication with the EU consignee, analyzed the exporter registration validity and EU inspection procedures, guided Jiangsu Aoxin in product quality and safety control, and provided the certificate of origin in strict accordance with EU regulations.   

According to Jiangsu Aoxin, as consumers usually take chondroitin sulfate with glucosamine, this export success will bring EU market shares of 100 tons of chondroitin sulfate and corresponding amount of glucosamine products for the company. 

Since the epidemic outbreak, Lianyungang Customs has been focusing on external prohibitions, restrictions and technical barriers to trade and providing export risk control schemes in light of foreign import requirements in order to promote Chinese exports.
