Shijiazhuang Customs Intercepts 1,462.48 Tons of “Foreign Wastes”

On September 21, more than 1,000 tons of imported solid wastes, which were intercepted by Shijiazhuang Customs District, were returned abroad by ship from Jingtang Port, Hebei Province.

 

These solid wastes, declared as "zinc concentrate" totaling 1,462.48 tons imported from Albania, were identified to be the residues produced by pollution controlling facilities. These solid wastes are potential pollutants and forbidden by China from import.

 

This batch was seized by Tangshan Customs on entry and was confirmed as the “foreign wastes” banned from entry.

 

Since the beginning this year, Shijiazhuang Customs has been combating the smuggling of wastes with various campaigns. According to statistics, from January to September, the Customs District intercepted 3 cases of illegal imports of solid wastes, totaling more than 14,000 tons.
