Qingdao Customs Destroys 250-Ton Smuggled Frozen Foods
08/14/2017

On July 27, Qingdao Customs destroyed 250 tons of smuggled frozen foods in a harmless processing center in Laiyang city, Shandong Province.

These foods, including frozen trotters, chicken wings, beef tripe and steaks, were  seized when the smugglers secretly transited the foods  into the port of Yantai for unloading.

The frozen foods, without legal certificate, may be harmful to  health if they are consumed. Qingdao Customs cooperated with the harmless processing center  involving  bio-safety disposal of unfreezing, breaking, smelting and drying so as to transform the foods into organic fertilizer materials. The whole process of destruction was monitored by two Customs officers together with a third-party on the disposal site.
