“The parcel from abroad was unpacked, and was it unpacked by Post Office or by the Customs for inspection? Is there any special seal for parcels unpacked and inspected by the Customs?”
“According to China laws and regulations, inward and outward parcels shall be inspected by Customs. Under normal circumstances, postal enterprises as agents of recipients/senders of inward and outward parcels are responsible for declaration, inspection, taxation, returning and other clearance procedures with the Customs. The Customs will conduct necessary inspection on a certain proportion of parcels, place inspection notices on the inspected parcels, and hand them over to postal enterprises for repackaging and further delivery.”
It’s one of the questions answered by the officer from Shantou Customs to citizens on a live broadcast at FM 99.3MHZ.
“FM 99.3”, a radio program held by Working Committee for the Organs Directly under CPC Commission of Shantou, had officers of Shantou Customs District as guest for live broadcast on December 8. Led by Zhou Yunbao, Deputy Director General of Shantou Customs District, the officers introduced Customs responsibilities, working procedures, social commitments and other issues to the public through live radio and TV broadcast. They vigorously explained customs policies and answered questions from the public.
Shantou Customs sent cadres of different service areas to live question answering. Citizens actively took part in the 1-hour broadcast and consulted the customs officers through phone call, network and other channels for questions including management on “overseas shopping”, entry and exit of passengers, enterprise authentication, and exhibition of Customs history, all of which were replied by the officers in a patient and detailed way. To those questions not answered due to time limit, the Customs assigned experts for follow-up to make sure that every single question has an answer. On December 16, the officers visited the Echo Wall program at FM 99.3 again and explained hot issues from the public.
