On December 18, Minister Yu Guangzhou accompanied Premier Li Keqiang to attend the completion ceremony of the bridge across the Danube River in Belgrade, Serbia. During the visit, Minister Yu accompanied Premier Li to meet with staff members of the Chinese Embassy to Serbia, representatives of China-funded institutions, overseas Chinese and students, and also attended the ceremony of Premier Li receiving the charter of honorary citizen of Belgrade.
On the same day, Minister Yu held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Milos Tomic, Director General of Serbian Customs Administration in Belgrade. Both spoke highly of the potential of the China-Serbia economic and trade relationship and the friendly cooperation between the two Customs.
Minister Yu put forward a six-point proposal on intensifying Customs cooperation. Firstly, to promote bilateral economic and trade development and to create new highlights in the cooperation. The two sides will push forward the clearance facilitation cooperation in the two countries’ key cooperation programs, such as large-scale equipments, energy projects, capacity transfer and infrastructure construction. Secondly, to implement the Framework Agreement on Cooperation in Facilitating Customs Clearance Among the Chinese, Hungarian, Serbian and Macedonian Customs by establishing a joint working group among the four Customs as soon as possible and developing a road map to advance clearance facilitation cooperation along the China-EU land-sea express line. Thirdly, to deepen the implementation of the agreement on mutual administrative assistance in customs matters and law enforcement cooperation, strengthen intelligence exchange and mutual assistance in case investigation, and explore the possibility of joint operations to combat commercial fraud and smuggling. Fourthly, to advance experience sharing and cooperation on the application of hi-tech equipments and to draw upon the technology and management experience from each other. Fifthly, to intensify Customs-business cooperation by exploring the mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) and providing more facilitative services for compliant enterprises. Sixthly, to improve the cooperation of capacity building by better utilizing the Chinese capacity building cooperation funds and to support the members of the World Customs Organization in their modernization drive.
Minister Yu also invited Mr. Tomic to attend the forum of Customs heads of the countries and regions along the Silk Road in China next year and to discuss customs clearance facilitation cooperation.
