Ivory Smuggler Captured after 2-Year Absconding

Recently, a man surnamed Xie, suspected of ivory smuggling and running abroad for two years, was captured by anti-smuggling officers when he entered Tianjin. Two years ago, Gongbei Customs cracked two cases of mail smuggling of 56 ivory slices, with net weight 3,076 grams in total.

 

On 25th and 29th of July 2014, Gongbei Customs found out 24 and 32 white ivory slices in vases respectively from within two EMS parcels fromJapan. The Customs immediately investigated into the two cases. The smuggling suspect Xie absconded then, but has been captured.

 

 

Customs officers seized ivory slices from within international parcels.
