Recently, in Guangzhou Customs District, Fanyu Customs officers seized 424.41 carats of loose diamonds, 106 pieces of inlaid jewelry, and 51.29 carats of gemstones undeclared and carried by an inward passenger.
When x-raying the passenger’s luggage, the officers noticed an anomaly of the luggage. Through manual inspection, the officers found out that two pull rods of the luggage were refitted into two hollow iron pipes fixed at the bottom of the luggage, and that the pipes were filled with diamonds and inlaid jewelry, each with a board on the top to cover the contents. What’s more, the officers also seized some jewelry hidden in the passenger’s pockets.
