Over 1 MLN Consignments Cleared on Facilitative “Ningbo Version of Overseas E-Shopping Platform”
03/03/2017

Driven by Spring Festival shopping frenzy, Ningbo Free Trade Zone Customs House cleared more than 1.5 million consignments of goods via Overseas E-Shopping Platform this January, with a total cargo value of over 290 million yuan, among which 116,000 consignments of commodities worth 22.858 million yuan were cleared during the Spring Festival vacation.

Just after the Spring Festival, customs officers in Ningbo FTZ cross-border e-commerce warehouse busied themselves at X-raying parcels, and workers busied themselves at packing goods on assembly lines. We have been busy packing and dispatching goods based on the orders created during the Spring Festival for several days. So long as we work overtime, the officers will work with us overtime, said a business manager.

At the beginning of the year, e-commerce operators launched various promotion activities, resulting in strong sales growth. In order to meet the needs of the enterprises, Ningbo Customs adopted three measures to accelerate the inspection and release of the goods shipped to the port. Firstly, the Customs expedited approval process to make sure that the goods were fast delivered to the dedicated warehouse. Secondly, the Customs increased the inspection and information checking of the warehoused goods to implement the practical control effectively. Lastly, by making full use of science and technology, the Customs expedited order verification and parcel release so as to enable the consumers to get the goods with the least possible delay.

So far, apart from maternal and baby products (diapers and baby formulas), we have also seen a significant increase in the proportion of food and beverage, health-care products as well as cosmetics and shampoos on the cross-border e-commerce platform. With the increase of platform popularity and cross-border consumption, more and more consumers will be expected to purchase foreign products through Overseas E-Shopping Platform in 2017.
