On March 4, Minister Yu Guangzhou and Vice Minister Sun Yibiao met with Mr. Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of Macao SAR and his delegation.
Minister Yu appreciated Mr. Chui for his support to the mainland Customs and the customs cooperation between the mainland and Macao SAR, and congratulated on the inauguration of Mr. Vong Iao Lek as Director-General of Macao Customs Service. Minister Yu also raised a four-point proposal on the future customs cooperation between the mainland and Macao SAR. Firstly, the cooperation channels and areas should be expanded between the government departments of the mainland and Macao SAR. Secondly, the two sides should promote the large infrastructure construction such as New Guangdong-Macao Channel and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and port openness, to fulfill the follow-up work of the new administrative zoning of Macao SAR. Thirdly, both Customs should strengthen 3 Mutual cooperation, namely mutual recognition of controls, mutual assistance of enforcement and mutual exchange of information. Fourthly, the two Customs administrations should intensify cooperation in international customs fields.
Both sides spoke highly of the trade development and customs cooperation between the mainland and Macao SAR, and exchanged views and reached a consensus on the improvement and implementation of the new port customs clearance mode, the strike on waterway smuggling and illegal immigration, and other issues.
