07/20/2020

Anti-smuggling officers investigate in the oil smuggling.

On July 11, Shanghai Customs anti-smuggling officers, together with Public Security officers, busted 3 criminal gangs engaged in smuggling petroleum products inward by waterway and specifically seized 4 smuggling vessels, about 2,000 tons of petroleum products, and 51 criminal suspects on the Huangpu River.

Through customs investigation, it is reported that the smuggling rings lightered petroleum products from foreign ships on the open sea, then smuggled the products into the Yangtze estuary and transited to domestic oil depots by inland rivers. By now, the 3 rings have smuggled 160,000 tons of petroleum products inward, worth 1.2 billion yuan, with the cases under further investigation.
