Guangzhou Customs seizure of the jersey infringing World Cup trademark right

 

With FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 about to open, Guangzhou Customs has been further strengthening risk analysis and port inspections based on the special deployment of "China-Russia Customs Protection for 2018 World Cup Intellectual Property Right". Recently, the Customs seized more than 7,800 pieces of related IPR-infringing goods including footballs and sportswear.

 

In mid-April, Guangzhou Customs seized, from a batch of exports to Tanzania, 140 footballs suspected of infringing the trademark right of “FIFA WORLD CUP”, plus about 700 jerseys and 3,530 sport-suits suspected of infringing trademark rights of “adidas and graphics” and “NIKE and graphics”.

 

In May, Guangzhou Customs seized 1,920 sport-suits suspected of infringing “FIFA” trademark rights as well as 720 suits, 800 shirts and trousers suspected of infringing the trademark rights of “DSQUARED”, “POLO RALPH LAUREN and graphics”, etc.
