On May 15, Minister Yu Guangzhou of the General Administration of China Customs (GACC), Vice Minister Sun Yibiao and Zhang Guangzhi (Member of the Board, GACC), met with Mr. Ahmad Reshad Popal, Director-General of Afghanistan Customs at the Headquarters of GACC.
Yu Guangzhou extended warm welcome to Mr. Popal for attending the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Mr. Popal spoke highly of the Belt and Road Initiative and expressed appreciation for being invited to the Forum. He also expressed his willingness to work closely with China Customs under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Both sides exchanged in-depth views and made consensus on the following issues: to extensively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative; to formally launch bilateral customs cooperation; to implement the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance on Customs Matters between China and Afghanistan; and to advance cooperation in customs enforcement and capacity building.
After the official meeting, Yu Guangzhou and Ahmad Reshad Popal jointly signed the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance on Customs Matters between China and Afghanistan.
