On May 13, according to intelligence, Shantou Customs District seized a cargo ship with 238 tons of smuggled frozen pork worth RMB10 million, with 6 suspects captured on the spot.

Since this year, Shantou Customs has seriously carried out joint anti-smuggling campaign “Sword 2016”, with frozen food smuggling as one of the major targets to crack down. By fully clearing secret unloading wharf in east Guangdong region and working with local Anti-Smuggling Offices and Food & Drug Administration to deeply inspect refrigeration storages, Shantou Customs placed 8 frozen-food smuggling cases on file, worth about 22.25 million yuan involving 386 tons of frozen food.
