Minister Ni Yuefeng Leads a Delegation to Chile

Minister Ni Yuefeng signs documents with Antonio Walker, Minister of Agriculture of Chile.

 

Minister Ni Yuefeng led a visiting delegation to Chile from November 30 to December 1.

 

Minister Ni met with Mr. Antonio Walker, Minister of Agriculture of Chile. The two sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation on food safety and animal and plant health, expanding cooperation on mutual market access, and facilitating bilateral agricultural trade, and signed the Protocols for the Export of Bee Products and Hazelnut from Chile to China, the Requirements for Chilean Fresh Fruit Exports to China in Reefer Vessel Storage Compartments, and the MOU on Paperless Certification. They visited together La Moneda Palace (Chilean presidential palace).

 

Minister Ni met with Mr. Franciso Moreno, Undersecretary of Finance of Chile, and Mr. Pablo Ibá?ez, Director of Chilean Customs. The two sides exchanged views on deepening bilateral customs cooperation, such as accelerating the construction of the Certification and Verification Networking System on the Certificate of Origin (CVNSCO) to facilitate the implementation of the upgraded China-Chile FTA, continuing collaboration on capacity building and law enforcement, exploring risk management and strengthening cooperation in multilateral frameworks such as WCO and APEC.

 

Minister Ni also met with Mr. José Ramón Valente, Minister of Economy of Chile, and Ms. Alicia Gallardo, National Director of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service of Chile. The two sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral fishery cooperation and signed the Protocol for the Export of Fish Oil from Chile to China and the MOU on Electronic Certification of Fishery and Aquaculture Products.

 

During his visit, Minister Ni also visited Lo Garcés’s cherry farm and packaging facilities and Rosario’s pork processing plant to have a better understanding of Chilean export of food and agricultural products such as fruit and meat to China and the control of product quality and safety. Minister Ni also met with representatives from Chilean Fresh Fruit Exporters Association and Chilean Meat Association, and Mr. Xu Bu, Chinese Ambassador to Chile.
