In Qingdao Customs District, a batch of transit goods from Japan (mechanical equipment worth USD300,000) was containerized in Qingdao Qianwan Bonded Port Area on January 1, ready for their transit to Russia since their entry on December 26, 2019.
In order to ensure the timely outward transit, Huangdao Customs House worked overtime on the warehouse-based clearance and containerization processes for the Japanese goods, finishing the first of 2020 international transit consolidation business in Qingdao Pilot Free Trade Zone.
International transit consolidation business, a port logistic operation, means that inbound goods are sorted, consolidated into containers in a special control area and then transited outward to foreign ports of destination. This business is regarded as a key indicator for the development level of an international hub port.
In accordance with relevant GACC announcement, Huangdao Customs House is using Qingdao’s “Intelligent Control” platform to improve the regulation on international transit consolidation at sea ports, with the aim of an internationally competitive business environment and port service upgrade. Last year, the Customs House handled 226 consignments of international transit consolidated goods.
