Recently, Gongbei Customs cracked an inward smuggling case of luxury clothing by a gang lead by Hu, with case value more than RMB 11 million.
Jiuzhou Customs House (affiliated to Gongbei Customs District) first received some clues about the smuggling. Through investigation, anti-smuggling officers found out that the gang went through Jiuzhou port to Hong Kong SAR at least once a month to purchase luxury clothing and then brought them inward by luggage. On May 16, the investigators took action at the port and a residential quarter, seizing 4 suspects, 1,010 pieces of luxury clothing of French and Italian brands, 531 pairs of shoes, as well as a batch of certificates.
According to the investigators, the smuggling gang purchased luxury clothing in Hong Kong and then, besides a small amount taken inward by the smugglers themselves, most of the clothing were imported by a logistics firm by means of false declaration, and finally were sold online through a TaoBao shop “Bashamingdian”. Now this case is under further investigation.
