Xiamen Customs Seizes 9 Puma Fangs in Inbound Post
04/24/2019

Recently in Xiamen Customs District, customs officers seized 9 pieces of animal fangs in an inbound post, which were finally identified to be puma fangs, worth 33,750 Yuan in total, by a judicial identification center in Fujian Province.

As per the Catalog of Animals, Plants and Relevant Products Prohibited from Being Carried and Posted into China, animal hoof, bone, horn, etc. are prohibited from inbound post. Besides, puma is listed in Appendix Ⅱ of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), so its hoof, bone and relevant products are banned from both inward and outward posting.

Now, this illegal case is under anti-smuggling investigation by the Customs.
