Nanjing Customs Returns 46,800 Tons of Smuggled Solid Waste
03/01/2019

Customs officers supervise the return of the smuggled solid waste.

Recently, under the control of Nantong Customs House subordinate to Nanjing Customs District, 46,800 tons of smuggled-in solid waste has been returned by ship from the port of Nantong, with relevant formalities completed in full.

In March 2018, Nantong Customs anti-smuggling officers seized more than 90,000 tons of inbound slag produced from iron-ore pelletizing overseas. The slag, declared falsely as “pelletized crushed ore”, belongs to the solid waste prohibited from import by China.

The first batch of the slag, 49,900 tons, was returned by the Customs in September 2018. The return of the remaining 46,800 tons marked completion in returning all the waste abroad.
