In Qingdao Customs District, 80 marmosets from South Africa received lab tests at Rongcheng Customs House on May 14, and their blood samples were then sent to Qingdao Customs Technology Center to detect monkey B virus and pathogenic bacteria. During the quarantine period, in order to prevent external epidemic diseases, customs officers made thorough examination over sanitary and feeding facilities of the quarantine station to meet relevant quarantine requirements.
Reportedly, it was the first time for Shandong province to import marmosets, which are the smallest monkey in the world, with the adult averagely 10-12 centimeters in height and 200 grams in weight.
