Shenzhen Customs Seizes IPR-Infringing Goods—13,981,000 Pieces
01/20/2020

Last year, under the GACC deployment, Shenzhen Customs District made great achievements in the “Soaring Dragon 2019” campaign for IPR protection enforcement. Specifically, its seizure of IPR-infringing goods totaled 6,091 batches, an increase of 198% year-on-year, and 13,981,000 pieces including counterfeit cellphones, handbags and memory cards.

Helping enterprises with their legal rights and interests, Shenzhen Customs, as the first among customs districts, surveyed over 200 enterprises about their IPR protection status and overseas IPR disputes. Meanwhile, it innovatively collaborated with enterprises in information collection, tendency analysis, case handling, etc., and upheld cross-customs-districts cooperation against the transit of IPR-infringing goods. Besides, in 2019, the Customs transferred 17 criminal infringement cases to local Public Security Bureau and collaborated with local Law Courts in ruling such cases, forming a positive efficient cooperation mechanism among the three.

Shenzhen Customs also intensified IPR protection in the inward/outward postal channel. In 2019, its seizure of infringing goods from posts totaled 5,748 batches, an increase of 243% year-on-year, and 249,000 pieces in quantity.

Recently, the president of American SD-3C LLC extended thanks in writing to Shenzhen Customs for IPR protection enforcement in the postal channel, praising the Customs efforts in optimizing the business environment of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
