Recently, through expert identification, the five antelope horns, seized by Shantou Customs at Jieyang Chaoshan Airport, have been confirmed the horns of Saiga antelope, China’s first-class protected animals.

On June 26, the Airport Customs officers X-rayed an incoming woman’s luggage and found suspicious objects therein; when the luggage was unpacked, the officers seized the five antelope horns.

Saiga antelope is listed in Appendix Ⅱ of the “Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” (CITES), so the animal and its products are banned from entry/exit by passengers.
