30,000 live minks imported from Denmark by a company in Weihai for breed improvement arrived at Yantai Laishan International Airporta few days ago, taking a charted plane. Officers of Yantai Customs House (affiliated to Qingdao Customs District), who waited at the apron long before the arrival of the plane that day, released quickly these overseas “visitors”.
Live animals will need a quick clearance since their lives are easily affected by such factors as time spent on transportation and weather. To ensure that there would a speedy clearance for the minks, Yantai Customs House guided the importer into finishing the pre-declaration procedures, examined the related documents beforehand and designated officers to wait at the apron and exercise control over the animals upon the arrival of the plane. All these efforts made by Customs officers helped the animals survive the uncertainties.
