04/17/2019

The empty container is quarantined.

Recently in Gongbei Customs District, the subordinate Gaolan Customs House detected a number of pests and seeds in a batch of empty containers transited from Hong Kong SAR.

Specifically, the seized organisms were identified to include red fire ants (Solenopsis invicta) that are a quarantine pest; ordinary pests including red flour beetles (Tribolium castaneum), cigarette beetles (Lasioderma serricorne), Bruchidae, corn weevils, and Liposcelididae insects; cockroaches that are a biological vector; and plant seeds including coffee beans, mung beans, and chickpeas.

Then, Gaolan Customs conducted quarantine and disinfection treatment over the empty containers to eliminate risks.
