Xiamen Customs Begins “Import in Full and Supply in Batches” for Bonded Supplies to Cruise Ships
08/08/2018

On the late night of July 16, a batch of imported materials (including large parasols and beer), totaling 2.1 tons and 27 pieces, were quickly supplied to the "Gemini" cruise ship that berthed at Xiamen Port, marking that Xiamen Customs embarked, as the first in China, on the “Import in Full and Supply in Batches” mode for bonded supplies to international cruise ships.

Under this “Import in Full and Supply in Batches” mode, material suppliers will, according to the operational plans of cruise ships, purchase a number of bonded materials in advance and then import them into bonded port areas for storage in bonded warehouses, and finally supply in specific batches to cruise ships as per actual demands by individual voyages. Compared with the previous mode of both import and supply in full container load (FCL), this new mode can not only save time and labor but also reduce cost, thus helping Xiamen Port become the material supply center of international cruise ships so as to promote local economic development.

To ensure the implementation of this new mode, Xiamen Customs repeatedly coordinated in advance with relevant agencies such as material suppliers and the cruise-ship agent to plan and improve the operational procedures. On the night of the supply, Customs officers worked overtime at guiding the enterprises through the procedures and, on arrival of supplies at the quay, they immediately inspected and released the supplies onto the ship.
