According to Xinhua news, on February 9, Mr. Wang Yang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council of China, delivered a keynote speech at the first Global Cross-Border E-Commerce Conference held in Beijing, China.
Vice Premier Wang pointed out that, with cross-border e-commerce as the fastest-growing trade model in this age of internet, the Chinese government has been adopting an innovative, inclusive, strategic and collaborative approach, innovating China’s development mode, strengthening infrastructure and improving management policies and risk control measures so as to promote the standardization and development of cross-border e-commerce with Chinese characteristics.
He also underlined that cross-border e-commerce is bringing new opportunities to more countries, more enterprises and more groups, which is supporting a more open world economy. The international community should work together to ensure the sustainability of cross-border e-commerce with a forward-looking, inclusive and synergetic approach, as follows:
Firstly, countries should open their domestic markets to each other and, on the basis of risk control, minimize the threshold of market access, thus promoting trade liberalization and facilitation.
Secondly, with the principle of joint building and sharing, regulatory standards that are binding on all parties should be formulated and upgraded in practice.
Thirdly, Customs should enhance cooperation and coordination mechanism through mutual sharing of information, mutual recognition of control and mutual administrative assistance. All relevant departments should accelerate the development of the “Single Window" and connect information silos;
Fourthly, the "Belt and Road" initiative should be jointly developed through connectivity and partnership, enabling underdeveloped countries to cultivate talents on cross-border e-commerce and bridging the digital divide.
This Conference, co-organized by the General Administration of Customs of China and the World Customs Organization, gathered more than 1,000 delegates from Customs administrations, other government agencies, international organizations, business circles and academia of 125 countries and regions.
