In the rainy season, Suzhou region in Jiangsu Province alternately suffered high temperature and rainstorms, an adverse impact on import/export cargo transit between Customs districts. Since mid-June, Suzhou Industrial Park Customs House (affiliated to Nanjing Customs District) has assigned 118 person-time work overtime at cargo control sites so as to ensure smooth clearance.
Recently, heavy windy and rainy weather caused more than 10-day delay to one import consignment of Rogers Inoac Suzhou Corporation when the cargo arrived at the Customs control station in Suzhou Industrial Park. As a result, the Corporation’s production line was in emergency. Therefore, Manager Zhang of the Corporation made overtime working application to the Customs on a Friday afternoon, and then the Customs finished relevant inspection formalities by the afternoon of the next day. Later, Mr. Zhang was relaxed to inform that their imported materials were put to production line that Saturday night, thus making them meet product delivery time to avoid contract breach.
In the hot and humid climate, customs declarers in waiting lines may easily get bored or unwell. So the Customs House took advantage of intelligent dispatch system to publish vehicle directives in multiple ways such as by text messages or screen monitors, with inspection processes visible in real time, thus enabling the declarers to arrange their time to have a rest.
According to statistics, since mid-June, Suzhou Industrial Park Customs House has arranged 118 person-time of overtime work to release 2,031 consignments of cargos, totally worth 188.86 million US dollars.
Customs officers were inspecting cargos overtime under high-temperature and rainstorm weather.
