Customs seizure of the smuggled jewels

Recently, Luohu Customs House (subordinate to Shenzhen Customs District) has verified a case of smuggling inward more than 3 million Yuan worth of jewels by the passengers intending to earn the carry fee.

Through identification by Guangdong Provincial Jewelry Testing Center, the seized jewels included 28 pieces of big diamonds, totaling 27.9 karats in weight; 2,088 pieces of small diamonds, totaling 223.2 karats; fragmentary diamonds, totaling 675.3 karats; 11 pieces of Tanzanite, totaling 19.2 karats; their value totaled 3.06 million Yuan.

Customs reminders: Inbound passengers, carrying self-use jewelry articles that are got at abroad, should actively declare such jewelry to the Customs, and in excess of duty-free limit, their jewelry can clear customs after duty payment as per Customs approval. Evading Customs control by concealment in body, luggage or disguise for the purpose of earning the carry fee or reselling at a profit, belongs to smuggling acts that are always being cracked down on by the Customs.
