At the beginning of 2016, Shanghai Ouheng Import & Export Company Limited finished its first import declaration on the “Fresh Port Platform” for pilot consignment trade clearance provided by Shanghai Customs. Thus, a batch of fresher cherries from Chilecould be faster offered to Chinese consumers through faster circulation by dealers.
The “Fresh Port Platform” is a further innovation by Shanghai Customs on the basis of 2015 pilot mode of fruit consignment trade. As an open ecosystem, this Platform utilizes internet technology to upgrade services for fruit import, enabling cooperation among all import participants. When the Platform user imports fruits on consignment from abroad, the Customs will first release the fruits on taxation by declared prices and, after the importer finishes sale, will accept its re-declaration and collect any short-paid tax by final settlement prices. So, with accuracy in price examination, the Platform can facilitate customs clearance and foreign currency payment by the importer.
By statistics, since the consignment trade mode was launched in November 2015, Shanghai Customs has processed 5 declarations for imports by sea and by air on the “Fresh Port Platform”, involving 27.5 tons, CNY740,000 worth of fresh cherries from Chile.
