Shenzhen Customs Seizes Smuggled Red Corals & Products

A few days ago, Shenzhen Customs announced that, on September 14, they seized 83kg red coral beads, 5kg red coral slices and 100kg raw gemstones of red coral from within a Taiwan passengers luggage on inward passenger-vehicle channel at Shenzhen Bay port.

 

On November 10, through professional identification by South China Sea Institute of Oceanology and South China Wildlife Identification Center, the seized items were red corals and their products, enlisted as Chinas first-grade protected aquatic wild animal and into Appendix of the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
