Gongbei Customs Seizes Smuggled High-End Wine and Foreign Wine Worth RMB105 Million

On May 5, Gongbei Customs announced that it had cracked down a wine smuggling case worth RMB105 million, in which individual smugglers (called shuike) smuggled high-end wine and foreign wine inbound by three gangs.

 

On the early morning of March 31, Gongbei Custom Anti-Smuggling Department launched the anti-smuggling campaign simultaneously at Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Guangzhou and Shanghai cities, capturing 3 gangs headed by Li, Yang, and Liang smuggling high-end wine and foreign wine, and detaining a batch of high-end wine such as Hennessy XO, Johnnie Walker Blue, Opus One, and Mouton, with 15 smugglers arrested.

 

Through investigation, the mainland businessmen Li and Yang run chateaus in Zhuhai and Guangzhourespectively and. To get illegal profits, they purchased various wine from external suppliers in Hong Kong andMacao. Macanese Liang organized shuike to smuggle the wine inward by body or luggage hiding, and then the wine was delivered to customers across the country by logistics. Now this case has been under further investigation.
