On July 19, Xingtai region in Hebei province was stricken by a serious flood disaster rarely seen in one century, incurring huge loss of local people’s lives and properties, many villages drowned by the flood.
Facing the disaster results, on July 25, Xingtai Customs volunteers led by Director Zhang Zhijun, went with their own rain-boots and shovels to help severely-stricken Wangma village, DongwangTown, clearing streets and rebuilding houses for local people.
On arrival, the volunteers started to clear. With shovels, they kept spading sludge and garbage deposited on the streets into trucks. Under hot damp weather, volunteers' clothes were soaked with sweat. They endured pungent smell of sludge, worked hard all the morning, and finally cleaned out all mud from the concrete surface of the streets. In addition, the volunteers also brought necessities like food and drinking water to local victims.
