Minister Yu Guangzhou and Vice Minister Sun Yibiao Meet with Commissioner Roman Quaedvlieg of the Australian Border Force

On Nov. 14, Minister Yu Guangzhou and Vice Minister Sun Yibiao met with Commissioner Roman Quaedvlieg of the Australian Border Force in Beijing.

 

Both sides made positive comments on bilateral trade and Customs cooperation, and reflected on the importance in implementing the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement and in promoting the China-Australia Customs Strategic Partnership. Minister Yu made four proposals to advance the China-Australia Customs cooperation: promote bilateral trade development by linking the Chinese “Belt and Road” initiative with the Australian “Great Development of Northern Region”, promote trade facilitative cooperation by providing economy and trade oriented service, strengthen effort in fighting against smuggling of drugs and those of precursor chemicals, cigarettes and commercial frauds by regulating trade order and safeguarding security along borders, strengthen effort in personnel education and customs innovative capacity by exchanging experiences of reform achievements.

 

Commissioner Roman Quaedvlieg echoed the proposals with full appreciation and expressed wishes to promote Australia-China Customs cooperation in all areas of concern.
