On November 23, with permission of Urumqi City People’s Procuratorate, Urumqi Airport Customs Anti-Smuggling Department arrested the criminal suspect involved in “10.15” drug smuggling by human body.
On October 15, at 16:00 or so, a flight from Pakistan landed at the Airport of Urumqi. When Customs officers were processing the entry of passengers, one Pakistani passenger came into their sight: though his luggage passed through examinations, however, the experienced officers were suspicious of the passenger’s behavior and therefore took him to a hospital for physical examination. As a result, some drugs were detected in his stomach, which had been orally taken for concealment. Through further treatment, the Customs seized 76 drug pills, weighing 548.8 grams, from the passenger body and identified the pills with heroin content at 63.27%.
