Gongbei Customs Intercepts 12 Live Crickets in Passenger Luggage
08/14/2018

Customs seizure of live crickets

On August 5, Zhakou Customs House in Gongbei Customs District intercepted 12 live crickets inside the luggage carried by an inbound passenger from Macao SAR. Because live animals (except for cat and dog) are banned from entry and the passenger evaded declaration and quarantine procedures, the Customs has conducted returning process over those crickets.

According to the “Catalogue of Animals, Plants, Animal and Plant Products and Other Quarantine Objects Prohibited from Being Carried or Posted into China”, live insects are prohibited from being carried inward. The entry of live animals (except for cat and dog) must go through animal/plant quarantine procedures and through the channel of cargo import, with illegal carry to be held accountable by law.
