On January 28, at Haicang portofXiamen, 136,300 tons of power coal fromAustraliawere released by Customs in a smooth way. According to China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Xiamen Customs exempted those coal from an import duty as much as CNY2,165,000, marking the first consignment of Australian coal with the duty relief.
Following the import, the Australian coal, high in calorific value and stable in quality, will be transported to Longyan, Sanming and other cities in Fujian Province for steel and chemical manufacturing. By statistics, in 2015, Xiamen Customs released a total of 10.45 million tons of inbound coal, with 2,596,000 tons from Australia.
The Customs has put forward a green channel for coal import with one-stop service for documentation, inspection and release formalities, including advance reservation for clearance.
