Huangpu Customs Seizes IPR-Infringing Integrated Circuits, 1.8 Million Pieces
09/03/2019

Recently, Huangpu Customs District successively seized 1.8 million pieces of inbound integrated circuits that were infringing on IPR in cross-border e-commerce channel.

At the inspection site, by using container inspection equipment, customs officers found big differences between the declared goods (such as PVC hoses and USB disks) and their scanned images. Through out-of-box audit, the containerized goods were actually integrated circuits (IC) and other electronic components printed with trademarks such as “Murata”, “SAMSUNG” and “Texas Instruments”. Besides the false declarations, the trademarked circuits were identified by relevant IPR owners to be infringing counterfeits, totaling 1.8 million pieces valued at 108,000 yuan. This case involved the largest number of goods seized by Huangpu Customs since it began the “Soaring Dragon 2019” campaign against IPR infringement.

In this campaign, this Customs adopted an innovative combination among video monitoring, real-time instruction and mobile inspection by coordinating mobile squads with on-site personnel, taking closer control over the goods transported via Hong Kong and Macao in the cross-border e-commerce way, so as to crack down on IPR infringement thereby.

From January till July, Huangpu Customs conducted 43 times of IPR enforcement, seizing 1.9 million pieces of infringing goods that were worth 1.36 million yuan.
