Minister Ni Yuefeng Visits Iceland and Signs Protocols

Minister Ni Yuefeng meets with Mr. Guoni Thorlacius Johannesson, President of Iceland.

From May 23 to 25, Minister Ni Yuefeng visited Iceland.


Minister Ni Yuefeng met with Mr. Guoni Thorlacius Johannesson, President of Iceland, and exchanged views on such topics as strengthening customs, inspection and quarantine cooperation and giving full play to the role of customs in promoting Sino-Icelandic economic and trade relations.


Minister Ni Yuefeng met with Mr. Kristjan por Juliusson, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture of Iceland and exchange views on registration of Icelandic mutton enterprises in China, and Icelandic feed fish oil, fish meal, raw wool, cultured fish and other products exported to China.


In bilateral talks with Mr. Guomundur arnason, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Finance of Iceland, and Ms. Karen Bragadottir, Deputy Director General, Directorate of Icelandic Customs, the two sides reached consensus on issues such as the establishment of a Sino-Icelandic customs working group, the signing of bilateral customs cooperation documents, the promotion of exchange of visits, AEO, the implementation of the China-Iceland Free Trade Agreement, the fight against smuggling, cross-border e-commerce and trade facilitation.


Minister Ni Yuefeng met with Mr. Guolaugur por poroarson, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Iceland and exchanged in-depth views on the implementation of the China-Iceland Free Trade Agreement and jointly safeguarding the WTO multilateral trading system. And jointly signed the Protocol on the Quarantine and Sanitary conditions of Icelandic Fish Oil and Fish meal to China between the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Industry and Innovation of the Republic of Iceland, and the Memorandum of understanding on the requirements for inspection and quarantine and veterinary hygiene of imported and exported fish products between the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Industry and Innovation of the Republic of Iceland, and the Protocol on quarantine and sanitary conditions of raw wool from Iceland to China between the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Industry and Innovation of the Republic of Iceland, and the Memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a working group on sanitary and phytosanitary measures between the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Industry and Innovation of the Republic of Iceland.


During the visit, Minister Ni Yuefeng met with the people in charge of the Icelandic Aquatic Association and representatives of fishery enterprises, paid a visit to Icelandic sheep pastures and aquaculture enterprises, and had a work communication with Jin Zhijian, Chinese Ambassador to Iceland.
