Qingdao Clears Import Bulk Cement from Japan
07/03/2020

On June 12, 12,500 tons of silicate cement in bulk from Japan cleared customs at the port of Penglai in Qingdao Customs District, marking the first import of cement to Penglai, Shandong Province.

During the epidemic period, domestic cement market is slack and short of imports. In helping the enterprises with production resumption, Penglai Customs House provides “one-on-one” supports including policy interpretation, advance inspection of unloading site, improvement in cement sampling, and reduction in business costs.

In light of this bulk shipment, the Customs formulated a special control scheme, ensuring seamless combination between health quarantine and cargo inspection; as per unloading and sampling plans, it streamlined cement test, certification and clearance procedures with higher efficiency, thus making for the next larger-quantity imports in a speedier and steadier way.
